“Dyslexia Awareness Month”

Reading 📖& writing ✍🏼 is a normality in this day & age. Something we simply take for granted. Unless you are dyslexic!!

Dyslexia is commonly thought of as a condition where words are swapped around. That’s not the case.

Consider what it’s like to look at a page of text and see distorted letters swirling before your eyes, or not seeing the difference between the letters “b” and “d.”  Not nice……

Between 5% and 10% of the world’s population, have the condition, making their lives more difficult each and every day.  A vast majority of these people are never diagnosed and end up being labeled, ‘stupid, slow, backward, useless, hopeless or in South African terms, dom!’

Dyslexia Awareness Month is the perfect time to think about how much harder dyslexic people’s lives are, than our own and try to be more understanding of their situation.

Through no fault of their own, they have to work much harder than everyone else, to read, absorb and understand what’s being read.

Keep an eye out, for kids like these, in schools and in your own home.  Do some research on the tell tale signs of this condition.  They can get help through brain training programs 🧠 and special spectacles 👓 that assist them in making it a bit easier for them to navigate daily reading, we take for granted.
